Chelsea Isbister is a nêhiyaw iskwew (Cree, Ahtahkakoop First Nation) and Portuguese-canadian illustrator living on the unceded territory of the Stó꞉lō people in her hometown of Mission, British Columbia. She has received her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Illustration from Emily Carr University of Art + Design on the unceded territory of the səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. She has been continually inspired by her peers and community who inform and push the boundaries of her work. She takes inspiration from fantasy, deep emotion, our natural world, and the people around her. She aims to create work she can see herself in, and hopes others can see themselves too.
Chelsea is interested in pursuing commissions and editorial work such as magazines/newpapers, posters, bookcovers, and more. She primarily works digitally, working with pen and ink traditionally. Chelsea was proud to display her first solo exhibition during September 2024 at the Mission Arts Centre. she has been published in the university of the fraser valley’s cascade. she has worked with organizations such as the city of mission and sherwin-williams.
